We are just about ready to wrap up our unit on fractions! My {awesome} student teacher told me about this fun hamburger activity that she did... We worked together to create our very own version! Here it is!
The students each had a job (chef, waiter, customer). The customer had to place an order for a specific kind of burger. The waiter/waitress had to record the order and report it back to the chef. The chef had to create the burger based on the directions. When they were finished, the waiter/waitress had to serve the burger to the customer. The customer then had to check to be sure that it was made correctly (with the correct fractions). This activity gave the students a hands on, engaging, and motivating way to practice fractions.

There were 6 different menus that features different kinds of burgers/fractions. |

The activity wouldn't be complete without a good ol' Big Mac box! :) |
